The Marketing ABCs: B is for …

But, more importantly, BRANDS!

The B in our marketing ABCs stands for BRANDING, and it’s one of my favorites. This is where you get to be creative and really add some personality WHILE keeping in mind your target audience and what they will find engaging.

Whenever I talk about branding with my clients, I start with a game called Brand Bingo. The text has been removed from the brands below, but I bet you can still tell what a good chunk of them are!

This illustrates the enormous power of a recognizable brand! There’s a ton of elements, but here are a few basics:

  • Logo
  • Colors and shapes
  • Tone and vocabulary
  • Fonts and typefaces
  • Imagery
  • Positioning (in other words, what makes you different/better than your customers?)

One more element I like to add to the list is originality. Think about it – if your logo and brand elements look the same as 50,000 other businesses (lookin’ at you, Canva … ) what does that say about your business? (It says you’re generic, you don’t put much effort in, and there’s nothing that makes you special . #ouch)

Honestly, there’s SO much that goes into an effective brand we ALWAYS suggest investing in this area, no matter how large or small your budget is. It’s a HUGE piece of the puzzle!
