The Marketing ABCs: A is for …

We’re back!

In our last post, we defined a ‘marketing mix’ in terms of different types of mediums – print, digital and social. (If you haven’t yet, go read that post!) We’ll keep adding to that foundation with some fun topics in the future (including the 4Ps and lots more!)

Don’t forget to start by taking one GIGANTIC step back and getting a “big picture” view of your business so it’s healthy and ready for growth. Here’s how.

Now we’re going to learn our marketing ABCs! These will guide you every step of the way on your marketing journey, from content creation to fine-tuning the channels in your marketing mix. Ready? Let’s go!

The Marketing ABCs: A is for Audience.

Marketing is all about connecting your business with people who will benefit from them. Those people are your audience.

Do you know your audience? Here are some quick questions to find out:

Who are your CURRENT customers?

Think about basic metrics (age, gender, income, location, interests.) You can also use your own observations, social media insights, Google Analytics, surveys and polls

Who do you WANT as your customer?

Create a few customer avatars – profiles of your ideal customers with plenty of details.

This is a great place to begin, because … and this is important …

Marketing is not about YOU!

A lot of business owners go wrong when they base their marketing plan on what they feel is important, what they like, and what they are knowledgeable about.

Always, always, always keep your audience in mind!

Next time, we’ll talk about B!

No idea how to find your target audience? We can help with that! Give us a shout-out.
